Colours affect the way we see the world. Colour in the world of fashion can be extremely subjective. Without acknowledging it, they have the ability to evoke different emotions and trigger certain reactions. This may be due to personal preferences, cultural background, emotional attachments and so forth.

There is always something to look forward to in the SmallWorlds’ fashion community - from the entry of new fashionistas in the industry, to the latest styles and colour trends - like the rise of neutral colour palettes of beige, tan etc. But one colour is prominently present these days, both on the runways and in the closets of many. Red.

The other day, I discovered that the colour red had somehow crept into my inventory. I was surprised to see sprinkles of red hues amongst the black, beige, greys and whites that already dominated the inventory.

It was quite rare for me to be spotted in red, back in the days. I tend to gravitate towards colours like black, grey, and white as bold colours like orange and red were never my cup of tea. It happened at a leisurely pace over a long period of time, but now at least a quarter of my closet comprises of red - from a dozen red tops, red jackets to a collection of red footwear.

Red doesn't have the authoritative, timelessness of black, blue's cold tranquility or the innocence and purity of light, neutral white, but it warps the mind. The colour indicates luck, passion, romance, energy, and even danger, red will always have the utmost impact. Alluring shades of red run deep, its effect strongly evident in the collection of designers and fashionistas - making a statement without doing much.

This bold, striking hue complements almost all skin tones. Red has always been associated with luxury and wearing it makes a bold statement that the wearer is in charge. SmallWorlds has a wide variety of clothing and accessories available in this colour to create the ultimate look. Red can be a powerful accent colour but can also be very versatile. Here's how:

The first two outfits, being paired with a brighter colour emits a very vibrant and dynamic vibe whereas the second outfit, consisting of darker shades of black and red radiates a more powerful vibe. Darker shades of red do tend to give off an aura of mystery, power and elegance.

If you want to be the centre of attention - Red is the way to go! Anyone choosing to wear red demands our attention. Pair a simple red dress with matching heels and a swipe of scarlet on the lips and you’re good to go!

Keep experimenting with new colours, styles, trends etc!
