Deal of the Dynasty? Reviewing Small Worlds Newest Package

Keeping with the theme of ‘International Week,’ today Small Worlds released their newest space - The Dynasty - as well as an onslaught of Egyptian themed wears and rares in the ‘Deluxe Dynasty Package.’
Looking through various forum and instagram posts, reactions seem to be mixed. On one hand, this is unlike any space Small Worlds has had for sale before; unlike the Deluxe Club or Shopping Mall, we have an outdoor space with lots of room, hot sand, and cool pools! While Egyptian-themed decor has been released in the past, a lot of it has been discontinued, making this pack a breath of fresh air. This package may also be valuable for our filmmaking friends who want to create a drama in the Sahara or recreate Katy Perry’s Dark Horse music video; your limit is only your imagination!
Of course, it’s much easier to find flaws with these package. One of the most obvious is the price - to buy directly from the store costs $35. Especially for younger players, that’s a lot of money, not to mention fewer items compared to the Deluxe Club. Some players are also commenting that the space seems to be unfinished looking. And of course, it’s easy to see that The Dynasty is a re-worked version of the Thermae Spa, which has left some people feeling like Small Worlds is again giving them the ‘short end of the stick.’

If you’re looking for specific pieces of the package, many have already taken to the forums to sell off the individual items. But beware; as of this writing, some players are experiencing glitches where the Dynasty space itself can’t be sold. According to Sunny on this forum post, the technical team is looking into it, but you may be left waiting until they figure out how to fix it.
Personally speaking, while I enjoy Small Worlds releasing new spaces like this, The Dynasty - and the Deluxe Package overall - doesn’t do a lot for me. I don’t have any reason to purchase the space, and out of the included items the only ones I’d consider looking into buying are the Fragrance and the Cat (because the fragrance looks really cool, and I love cats). That being said, I think a lot of the reason people don’t like it is because it’s the same model as the Thermae Spa - seeing it without all of the usual grass and decor makes it feel emptier compared to seeing the space for the first time. Along with that, I believe this space has great potential for filmmakers and RPers, who have the imagination to turn anything into a beautiful new world.
As is the case with packages like this, it really comes down to your personal taste. If you love Egyptian themes or want to create the next great outdoor festival space, this may very well be the package for you. But if you’re more of a classic club type who’s never been into the spa, you may want to sit this one out.
